For all of the great admirers of Contemporary Art, for lovers of art in general or for anyone who is simply curious, it’s the artistic event of the month of April: the annual opening of the Carmignac Villa, in Porquerolles.
It’s the perfect moment to visit this unique place which allows you to discover no less than 300 works of Contemporary Art. Located on the Island of Porquerolles, the Villa Carmignac (created by the Carmignac Foundation) proposes access to unique works through exhibitions. It’s also here that the annual Photojournalism prize is awarded. A great way to unite contemporary art and culture.
Inaugurated on 2 May 2018, the Villa Carmignac Carmignac Villa is a unique and protected place to visit, as is the island where it is located. The Carmignac Foundation, which has enabled the creation of this project, has only one motto: Liberty. It’s on this founding principle that everything has been done to highlight almost 20 long years of artistic acquisitions, without borders nor taboos. The Carmignac Villa is not just a villa, it is also a garden. The garden has been closely studied, and it is presented as a “non-garden”, established and protected by “additions” rather than “removals”. There are olive trees, Provencal plants including Hyères lavender, but also orchids, as well as rarer plants which come from far off places, such as Eucalyptus or Jacarandas.
The perfect place to combine Contemporary Art and flourishing and protected nature. In a word, a little piece of heaven.
The Carmignac Villa and its garden open their doors for the summer season starting on 13 April 2019.
