New exhibition at Fondation Carmignac: Le Songe d’Ulysse – The Dream of Ulysses

The island of Porquerolles, which you can reach by boat from Le Lavandou or Cavalaire, promises a sunny day packed full of exciting discoveries: fine sandy beaches, wine estates and bike rides, not to mention the opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of the famous Greek hero Ulysses at Villa Carmignac. Make the most of your getaway on the Ile de Porquerolles and explore the new exhibition presented by the Fondation Carmignac from April 30 to October 16, 2022: Le Songe d’Ulysse – The Dream of Ulysses.

Villa Carmignac is an exhibition space dedicated to contemporary art, and it will be transformed for Le Songe d’Ulysse into a labyrinth hosting an aesthetic and mythological adventure that draws freely on Homer’s Odyssey. But this labyrinth, as well as being bereft of landmarks, will be extra special as it will be populated by works of art. Visitors will come face-to-face with temptresses, terrible monsters, heroes, fabulous and divine beings, and animals.

The story goes that after the Trojan War, Ulysses sailed the oceans for ten years in his attempts to return home. He fought on the island of Porquerolles, laying low Alycastre, a monster sent by Poseidon – here sculpted by the artist Miquel Barceló and awaiting discovery at the entrance to Villa Carmignac.

Don’t miss the Fondation Carmignac, an absolute must to be discovered or rediscovered during your stay at Le Bailli de Suffren this summer. The Foundation is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can book your tickets now on the Fondation Carmignac website or at Le Bailli de Suffren’s reception.
